AI Transparency Statement

East Coast Lawyers Pty Ltd ATF East Coast Lawyers Trust t/as East Coast Injury Lawyers and East Coast Lawyers (“East Coast Injury Lawyers”)

Our Commitment

At East Coast Injury Lawyers, we are committed to delivering high-quality legal services while embracing technology in a responsible and transparent manner. We recognise that artificial intelligence (AI) can enhance efficiency, improve service delivery and support access to justice. Any use of AI within the Firm is guided by our professional, ethical, privacy and confidentiality obligations.

How We Use AI

The Firm may use approved AI technologies to assist with administrative and legal support functions, including transcribing communications, summarising documents, organising information, reviewing records, drafting preliminary material, conducting legal research and improving workflows. AI-generated content is used only as an assistance tool. All substantive legal work, advice, correspondence, and decisions are reviewed and approved by appropriately qualified personnel before use.

Human Oversight and Professional Responsibility

The Firm does not rely on AI to independently provide legal advice or make legal decisions. We maintain human oversight by ensuring: every AI-assisted output is reviewed by a qualified legal professional; staff apply independent judgement when assessing AI-generated information; and team members receive ongoing training in responsible AI use, confidentiality, privacy, security, and professional obligations.

Protecting Client Information

Protecting personal and sensitive information remains a priority. When using AI technologies, the Firm takes reasonable steps to safeguard information, including using approved business-grade platforms; restricting access to authorised personnel; minimising the information provided to AI systems; preventing confidential information from being entered into public AI tools where not authorised; reviewing provider security and privacy controls; and ensuring client information is not used to train public AI models.

Automated Decision-Making Transparency

The Firm may use automated processes to support functions such as client intake, conflict checking, identity verification, matter administration, communications and fraud detection. These systems support decision-making rather than replacing professional judgement. Where AI or automated systems are involved in processes that may significantly affect an individual’s rights or interests, the Firm will take reasonable steps to explain the nature of the process, maintain appropriate safeguards and provide an avenue for human review where appropriate.

AI-Generated Content

From time to time, the Firm may create or publish AI-assisted text, images, audio, video, or other content. Where AI-generated material could reasonably be mistaken for content created solely by a person, we may identify that AI technology was used in its creation. Any externally published AI-assisted content is subject to review before release.

AI Governance Framework

The Firm has established governance measures to support responsible AI adoption, including: assessment of AI tools before implementation; ongoing risk, privacy, and security reviews; monitoring of third-party providers; compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements; and continuous improvement of AI-related policies, procedures and staff training.

Contact Us

If you have questions, concerns, or complaints about the Firm’s use of AI, please contact our Privacy Officer at info@eastcoastinjurylawyers.com.au.
